چکیده

More and more studies have suggested that long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are involved in different physiological or physiopathologic processes including the development of cancer. Previous studies have suggested long noncoding RNA AB073614 (lncRNA AB073614) is involved in ovarian cancer and glioma, but its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) is still unclear. A study was thus performed to examine the expression of lncRNA AB073614 in CRC patients and its clinical significance. A total of 51 CRC patients were included in the study. Expression of lncRNA AB073614 in tumor tissues and paired adjacent non-tumor tissues were detected by Quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). Logistic regression analysis was also performed. The relative expression of lncRNA AB073614 in the CRC tumor tissues was significantly higher when compared with the paired normal tissues (P < 0.0001). The expression of lncRNA AB073614 in the tumor tissues was obviously higher in CRC patients with high grade (P = 0.003), larger tumor size (> 5 cm) (P = 0.008), distant metastasis (P = 0.0007), or poor differentiation (P = 0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested high expression of lncRNA AB073614 was independently associated with higher possibilities of high grade (OR = 26.08; P = 0.01), distant metastasis (OR = 91.14; P = 0.03) and poor differentiation (OR = 28.15; P = 0.006). The findings above suggest that lncRNA AB073614 may participate in the carcinogenesis and progression of CRC. More researches are needed to validate the role of lncRNA AB073614 in CRC, and to explore the underlying molecular mechanism.

Study of Long Noncoding RNA FER1L4 and RB1, as Its Competing Endogenous RNA Network Target Gene, in Breast Cancer

Introduction: Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death among females, which requires an exploration for markers to propose a more specific categorization of this cancer. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), the main subset of noncoding transcripts, are involved in tumorigenic processes. In this study, we investigated the expression of the fer-1–like family member 4 (FER...

Long Non-coding RNA ZEB1-AS1 Promotes Tumorigenesis and Metastasis in Colorectal Cancer

Emerging evidence implicates that a large fraction of human genome was transcribed but the transcripts known as long non coding RNA are not translated into proteins. They are contributing in different cellular processes, including cellular proliferation and apoptosis. LncRNAs were found to play critical roles in many diseases and act as key regulators in malignancies. In this study, we investig...

A long noncoding RNA AB073614 promotes tumorigenesis and predicts poor prognosis in ovarian cancer

Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) profiles in ovarian cancer (OC) remain largely unknown. In the present study, we screened AB073614 as a new candidate lncRNA which promotes development of OC, in two independent datasets (GSE18521 and GSE38666) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The level of AB073614 was then detected in 75 paired OC tissues and adjacent normal tissues by qRT-PCR. Results showed...

Dysregulated Expression of Long Non-Coding RNA MINCR and EZH2 in Colorectal Cancer

Background: As critical regulators, lncRNAs have attracted attention from researchers for diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic purposes in human carcinogenesis via interfering with mRNAs such as EZH2. Nevertheless, the potent roles and molecular mechanisms of these RNAs in CRC are not clearly known. Methods: In this study, the tissue expressions of lncRNA MINCR and EZH2 mRNA between colorect...

SNHG6 203 and SNHG6 201 Transcripts Can be Used as Contributory Factors for a Well-Timed Prognosis and Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer

Background:Long non-coding RNAs, as a big part of non-coding RNAs, are considered functionally more than past. These transcripts could be involved in carcinogenesis. SNHG6, as a long non-coding RNA, has been reported to be expressed more in colorectal cancer tissues than non-cancerous ones.  Colorectal cancer as a malignancy needs fast prognostic and diagnostic methods for well...
